OUTDOOR INSPIRATION - NEW ARRIVALS - 29 August 2024

Shrubs for Gaps!

Our most popular shrub last week was the frost-hardy, well-scented Gardenia series – 6 excellent varieties available and all well frost hardy.
Gardenia - Snow Puff
Boronia Megastima
Leptospermum Martinii
2nd most popular shrub? Brown Boronia! Big new batch of the strongly scented Brown Boronias (plus more Lipstick, Purple Jared, and Tui), more of what I consider the best Leptospermum – Martinii with its prolific pink single flowers, 2 varieties of Westringia (Grey Box, with small white flowers, keeps its compact natural ball shape, and Mundi with hardy dense foliage and small white flowers).
Westringia - Grey Box
More Rosemarys - Chef’s Choice with very aromatic foliage, September Blue, & Lockwood de Forest
Rosemary September Blue
Phormium Purple Haze
Phormium Purple Haze with lovely dark leaves & arching habit, and more of the NZ native groundcover moss Scleranthus Biflorus with a very tactile foliage.

The new Teucrium Silver Box is back – dwarf compact form, blue flowers, upright growth habit.   Plus Nandina Firepower for good foliage colour, great for containers.
Teucrium Silver Box.
Don’t just fill a gap – make it productive! More Blueberries this week (Legacy & Sierra), + more Raspberry Meeker with large firm, brilliant red fruit on spreading laterals; ensure good watering and feeding from flowering onwards.

Looking for the finishing touch out in the garden? More pots again this week, both glazed and traditional terracotta, plus some really good glazed birdbaths in a range of colours.
