USING SEASONAL PRODUCE - APPLE SCONE RECIPE

APPLE SCONES

Sandwich apple between two layers of dough for these delicious scones.

2- 3 apples
125 grams butter
½ cup sugar
1 egg
2 cups flour
½ teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
pinch of salt
milk


Peel, and slice apples. Place in a pot with just enough water to stop them sticking. Simmer over a medium heat until tender. Meanwhile, make scone dough. Cream butter and sugar, add egg, mix well. Add dry ingredients and enough milk to form a firm dough. Divide into two layers, roll out. Spread apple on top of one layer, then press the next layer on top and cut into scones.

Place on floured tray and bake at 200° C for 20 minutes.
