DORSET APPLE CAKE
DORSET APPLE CAKE
Dates back to the 1960’s.
900g apples
115g butter
170g sugar
2 eggs
1 cup self-raising flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
Preheat your oven to 180° C. Core apples, but don’t peel, then finely chop or dice. Set aside. Cream the butter and sugar. Beat in eggs then blend in the self-raising flour. Mix in apples. Spoon cake batter into a greased dish and cook for 40 to 45 minutes. Serve hot with ice cream or thick cream. You can also add a small teaspoon of ground ginger, or pinch of mace or cloves.
