The Hosta “Vulcan,” a name associated with the Roman god of fire, captures attention with its green leaves and flaming white centers.
Hosta 'Vulcan' is a highly regarded, vigorous, white-centered sport of 'Captain Kirk' with creamy-white leaves, dark green margins, and yellow streaks. Known for its excellent growth rate, it holds its color well without melting out, making it a popular choice for shade gardens.
Broadly ovate, white-centred leaves with irregular, wide dark green margins and some lighter green to yellow streaking where the margin meets the white leaf centre. Spikes of funnel-shaped, pale lavender flowers are born above the foliage in mid-summer.
Hostas are exceedingly popular perennials in today's gardens due to their versatility in the landscape. Their subtle colors, tall flower scapes, and broad, coarse leaves fill a niche in garden designs that few other plants can achieve. Their large leaves provide excellent coverage for dying bulb foliage. Hostas also grow well in city environments where the air may be polluted by car exhaust, etc.
